Founders February
Each year all money raised in February will be focused on a specific cause brought to My Chance by a member of our community, selected because it embodies the My Chance ethos of ‘Dum Spiro, Spero’ - while I breath, I hope.

Rare Disease Focus - Cystanosis
‘Cystinosis is a rare, genetic disease, which is diagnosed early in childhood, usually before the age of two. It is autosomal recessive, which means that it is inherited when a child receives two copies of an abnormal gene, one copy from each parent. Because the parents each have only one abnormal gene, they are not affected.
It is estimated that cystinosis occurs in somewhere between 1 in 100,000 to 1 in 200,000 live births. There are 2 or 3 new cases of cystinosis diagnosed each year in the UK.
The problem in cystinosis is an increase in many parts of the body of a natural chemical, an amino acid called cystine. This build up causes cystine crystals to form in many organs of the body. These crystals form firstly in the kidneys and the eyes, and later in the muscles, pancreas, thyroid gland and white blood cells.‘ - The Cystanosis Foundation UK

Continued Goal For My Chance
Fundraising for My Retreat
It has been a long aspiration for My Chance to raise enough money to fund a small holiday home in the Yorkshire countryside for our community to enjoy. We want to provide a self-boarding getaway retreat for families to escape the hospital setting and worries of their diagnosis, to make memories and recover with the ones they love. We aim to provide weekend dates out on a nomination basis. More Information coming soon on our fundraising target and how My Chance will obtain My Retreat!
